Nasopharyngeal Airways

The nasopharyngeal airway (NPA) is a basic airway adjunct which is inserted in the nostril and supports the passage of air from the nose to the lower airway, although it does not secure the airway and should, therefore, be used in conjunction with manual techniques. The NPA is often better tolerated than other airway adjuncts by patients who have an intact gag reflex.
